Insurance Questions:
In an effort to making counseling services accessible, a limited number of sliding scale slots are available for clients experiencing financial hardship. Eligibility is determined based on household income and family size. To apply, please contact me in order to complete the sliding scale application and provide proof of income, such as recent pay stubs or tax documents.
I currently do not accept insurance and operate as a private pay practice. Many clients choose private pay because it allows for greater privacy, flexibility, and confidentiality in their care.
When insurance is used, companies often require specific information such as a mental health diagnosis, treatment plans, and portions of the clinical record in order to authorize or reimburse services. This information becomes part of a client’s medical record and may be accessible to third parties in the future.
Because I do not bill insurance directly, I am able to maintain a higher level of confidentiality. Your therapy information is not shared with insurance companies, and care is guided by your clinical needs rather than insurance requirements.
While I do not accept insurance, I am happy to provide a superbill upon request. A superbill is a detailed receipt that you may submit to your insurance provider to seek partial reimbursement, depending on your out-of-network benefits. Reimbursement is not guaranteed and is determined by your individual insurance plan.
If you have questions about private pay, superbills, or whether this approach is the right fit for you, I’m happy to discuss this during a consultation, which can be scheduled here.
Good Faith Estimate:
Under the law, clients who are uninsured or choosing not to use insurance have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining the expected costs of counseling services, as required by the No Surprises Act. You may request a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges before beginning services. This estimate is intended to help you make informed decisions and avoid surprise billing. If you receive a bill that is substantially higher than your Good Faith Estimate (generally $400 or more), you may have the right to dispute the charges. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.
